Boston, MA- The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is partnering with two famous Boston institutions to help celebrate their historic connection with John F. Kennedy. For a limited time, patrons who present an admission ticket stub from the Museum at the Kennedy Presidential Library at either the Omni Parker House or the Union Oyster House will receive a complimentary item with their meal.

The Boston Omni Parker House and the Union Oyster House have long been connected with John F. Kennedy. The Omni Parker House is considered the site of John F. Kennedy’s first public speech at the age of six, when he publicly called grandfather “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald “the best grandfather a child ever had.” Twenty-three years later Kennedy returned to the Omni Parker House to announce his candidacy for Congress, and, in 1953, to hold his bachelor party.

While a congressman and senator, John F. Kennedy enjoyed the Union Oyster House as one of his favorite places to dine out and enjoy lobster stew. Table 18 is marked by a commemorative plaque as the booth Kennedy typically claimed his own on visits.

The Union Oyster House opened in 1826, and is America’s oldest restaurant. The Boston Omni Parker House opened not long after in 1855. Both are located downtown along Boston’s historic Freedom Trail.

Guests who present a JFK Museum admission stub at the Union Oyster House will receive a free cup of clam chowder with the purchase of a lunch or dinner entrée. At the Omni Parker House guests will have a choice of receiving a complimentary cup of chowder with the order of a salad or sandwich OR a complimentary Boston Crème Pie dessert with the order of an entrée. Both promotions are valid until August 31, 2009.

One of Boston’s most popular destinations for visitors from all nations, The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum’s 25 multimedia exhibits and period settings from the White House offer an exciting “you are there” experience, and create a stirring account of President Kennedy’s thousand days in office.

The Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exceptions of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Library is located in the Dorchester section of Boston, off Morrissey Boulevard, next to the campus of the University of Massachusetts/Boston. Parking is free. There is free shuttle-service from the JFK/UMass T Stop on the Red Line. The Museum is fully handicapped accessible. For more information, call (866) JFK-1960.
