This folder contains correspondence to and from Gerhard A. Gesell, Chair of the President's Committee on Equal Opportunity in the Armed Services, regarding segregation and discrimination against African American and Black individuals in the United States armed forces, including in military housing. The folder also contains a statistical analysis regarding the recruitment and retention of Black individuals in the armed services, as well as press releases and memoranda regarding the armed services and the Committee's work.
