The candidates answered questions on numerous issues, including agriculture, the economy, education, foreign policy, and medical care for the aged. The debate was held in Chicago, Illinois and moderated by Howard K. Smith, with a four person panel consisting of journalists Robert Fleming, Stuart Novins, Charles Warren, and Sander Vanocur.

Please note, the venue is described in these materials as being held at the Chicago Auditorium and the Chicago Stadium. The correct venue was the Chicago Stadium.
