In his speech the Senator discusses how the expansion of radio and television programming has shaped political proceedings, campaigns, and speeches. He goes on to discuss the roles politicians and broadcasters play as public servants, and the need for broadcasters to keep public interest in mind when covering political topics. Of note is a draft of the speech with notations by Senator Kennedy.
