This photograph and one other were sent to Evelyn Lincoln with a letter dated December 22, 1962, by an unidentified individual from the Deshon Veterans Administration Hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania. The following is also stamped on the verso of the photograph: "The original negative number 60-545-U from which this picture was made is on file at our Studio. The following is handwritten on the verso of the photograph: "Deep chanel (sic) in between(?) islands."

Kennedy identifying him in Portuguese as the "Presidente dos Estados Unidos de America." Athenagorus the First, Patriarch of Constantinople (left), in his office in Istanbul with an unidentified man, possibly Harrison Smith. A framed photograph of President John F. Kennedy in the office is the focal point of both photographs. Harrison Smith, Ph. D. from the University of Maryland sent the photographs to President Kennedy with a letter dated December 10, 1961. The following is handwritten on the verso of the photograph: "Photo Embros Gazetti, Istanbul."

Antique pistols from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. One is an authentic Harpers Ferry 1805 pistol and the other is believed to be a 1799 model. The pistols were given by George Washington to Andrew Jackson and willed to the son of the Marquis de Lafayette. Janet G. Felton, White House Secretary to the Fine Arts Committee, forwarded the photograph and photographs of portions of handwritten documents that provide support for the provenance of the pistols with a memorandum dated April 13, 1962, to Evelyn Lincoln to inform the President of their availability for purchase from a descendant of Lafayette. The following is stamped on the verso of the photograph: "Photo Droz, Grand-Chene 8, Lausanne."
