White, various members of the White House staff, and individual citizens concerning civil rights demonstrations, incidents of police misconduct, desegregation of educational institutions, the use of military personnel to maintain public safety, and incidents of racially motivated violence, including the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Of note is a telegram to President Kennedy from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
