This folder contains material compiled by Walter W. Heller concerning natural resources and conservation. There are several documents prepared by the Department of the Interior, such as a draft presidential message on conservation and natural resources, a Report to the President on a Kennedy Conservation Program for the 1960s, and a paper titled "A Program for Financing Investment in the Conservation and Development of Our Nation's Natural Resources." Other items include the report of the Task Force on Natural Resources Research; correspondence from Paschal Sherman of the Colville Confederated Tribes regarding the inclusion of Native American lands in the government's conservation program; and a paper titled "Getting the Most Out of Water Resources" by Irving K. Fox and Henry P. Caulfield, Jr., of Resources for the Future, Inc. Note that the file also includes some correspondence with the National Bureau of Economic Research, Inc., which appears to be misfiled.
