The candidates answered questions on numerous issues, including agriculture, the economy, education, foreign policy, and medical care for the aged. The debate was held in Chicago, Illinois and moderated by Howard K. Smith, with a four person panel consisting of journalists Robert Fleming, Stuart Novins, Charles Warren, and Sander Vanocur.

In his remarks Senator Kennedy reflects on the main messages and goals of his campaign. He describes his vision for a strong America that is dedicated to peace and freedom. Please note, the venue is described in these materials as being held at the Chicago Auditorium and the Chicago Stadium. The correct venue was the Chicago Stadium.

This folder contains material pertaining to Walter W. Heller's participation in the American Life Convention at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1961. It includes several versions of Heller's address, which was titled "The Economic Future and Government Policy," as well as correspondence requesting copies of the speech. There is also a copy of Heller's speech at the White House Regional Conference in Madison, Wisconsin, which is likely misfiled.
