This file contains miscellaneous press releases and other documents collected by Senator John F. Kennedy's office. The items were issued by other congressmen, committees, and organizations. Most are releases and meeting agendas of the New England Senators Conference. Other items of note include distribution lists for press releases (1957); a detailed statement from Senator Kennedy on civil rights legislation; a transcript of Kennedy's interview with Harry Conn of Press Associates, Inc., regarding the McClellan investigation into improper activities in the labor-management field; and an announcement that film rights to "Profiles in Courage" had been acquired by Contemporary Productions, Inc.

In his speech the Senator discusses the economy of New England including the proposal of Federal programs to strengthen the industrial economy, increase employment and trade, and reform taxes. Of note is a copy with a notation by the Senator.

This file contains materials regarding Senator John F. Kennedy’s address before the first session of the 83rd Congress. In his speech, the Senator calls for the implementation of programs to alleviate economic hardships in New England caused by a decline in manufacturing and industry and poorly managed natural resources. Senator Kennedy suggests that Federal assistance for the modernization of technologies, tax incentives for industry expansion, and labor reforms will help revive the New England economy. Of note are several notations by the Senator.
