This folder consists of correspondence between the office of President John F. Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, and individuals and organizations both known and unknown to the President. Materials are mainly expressions of and responses to public opinion. Items in this folder primarily consist of correspondence concerning the activities of the Democratic Party. Of note are materials relating to the 1962 Midterm Election and correspondence with John M. Bailey, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Materials in this folder include a list of individual state coordinators, analyses of electoral votes and demographic information for individual states, and a summary of the DNC's voter education program.

This folder contains a memorandum titled The Catholic Vote in 1952 and 1956, written in Spring 1956, which contains "an analysis of available statistics and polls indicating the strength of the Catholic vote in key states and cities, its division among the Republican and Democratic parties, and the significance to the Democratic party of reversing in 1956 the 1952 Republican trend among Catholic voters." There is also an analysis of Al Smith's performance in the 1928 election, and excerpts from Smith's statements on religion.

Kennedy’s speech titled, “Foreign Policy in a Democracy,” given at a New York Herald Tribune forum for high schools held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. In his speech the Senator discusses the influences of public opinion and pressure groups, political parties and campaigns, and leadership and public education on shaping foreign policy in the United States.
