Members of the Senate Ladies Red Cross Unit sit at a table during a luncheon (attended by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy) in the Old Supreme Court Chamber, United States Capitol Building, Washington, D.C. The Red Cross unit (also known as “Ladies of the Senate”) is comprised of the wives of members of the US Senate. Those seated at table include: Frances Marion Grant Bennett, wife of Senator Wallace Bennett (Utah); former Representative Emily Taft Douglas of Illinois, wife of Senator Paul Douglas (Illinois); Evelyn Wadsworth Symington, wife of Senator Stuart Symington (Missouri); Coy Stennis, wife of Senator John C. Stennis (Mississippi).
