In this interview Carver discusses his work under Senator Frank Church of Idaho; his work for John F. Kennedy’s [JFK] 1960 presidential campaign as a coordinator in Michigan; and the transition process from Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Administration to JFK’s Administration in late 1960 and early 1961, among other issues.

This folder contains Senator John F. Kennedy’s schedule for September 2, 1960 and speeches given by the Senator in Alaska, California, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, and New Hampshire. In his speeches the Senator discusses the economy, labor, industry, legislation, and international affairs; and asks for support for his 1960 presidential campaign. Of note is Senator Kennedy’s acceptance speech titled, “The New Frontier,” given at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) upon receiving the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 1960 presidential election. In his speech the Senator addresses religion, Communism, nuclear weapons, and civil rights. He also discusses a New Frontier in America, which calls for leadership, courage, change, and opportunity for all.
