Critically-acclaimed debut novelist Ruchika Tomar is the winner of the 2020 PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel, for A Prayer for Travelers (Riverhead), PEN America announced today. Honoring a distinguished first novel, the PEN/Hemingway Award includes a $25,000 prize intended to allow significant time and resources with which to pursue a subsequent work of fiction. The prize is underwritten by the Hemingway family and the Ernest Hemingway Foundation. Tomar will also receive a month-long Residency Fellowship at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, a retreat for artists and writers, valued at $10,000.

BOSTON, MA: On Wednesday, December 5, the museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library will offer free admission to visitors in honor of President George H.W. Bush. Research rooms at the National Archives nationwide, including the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, will be closed and the Rodgers and Hammerstein Forum scheduled for 6:00pm on December 5 will be rescheduled due to the national day of mourning in honor of President Bush. Feinberg will step down at the end of 2017, which marks the conclusion of the celebration of the John F. Kennedy Centennial. Feinberg, one of the nation's leading experts in mediation and alternative dispute resolution, served as Special Master for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and oversaw the distribution of The One Fund Boston for victims of the marathon bombing. He was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board in November 2009 and has served as a member of the Board since 2005. The board will choose Feinberg’s successor in June 2017.
